Watch your step

While bargain hunting, this bit of Dunglish was pointed out to me. Besides the obvious typo and the ad lib abbreviations, the entire shop had this mix and match thing going for it. I have been in several other shops of the same brand at Italian outlets centres and never came across this mix. It has to be a Dutch thing.

    Definitely a Dutch thing:

    Quite hilarious:

“When it came to mules and sandals, Fred naturally considered ‘what women want’.”
    – must have been thinking about a sandal fetisjist who’s hung like a mule.

“… and pointed mules of soft goat suede.” – confusing at least three kinds of animals.

“The collection also includes a cool mule in the same material.” – got to be a mule with sunglasses.

Hilarious indeed! I don’t buy my shoes there, if anyone needs to know that 🙂

  3. Larry says:

Nothing wrong with ‘mule’ as a kind of slipper, and suede can be made from more than one kind of leather. Sheesh!

  4. Natashka says:

Although I haven’t bothered looking all of it up, goat should be kid, as in kid gloves.

  5. Larry says:

Not necessarily. Not all goatskin is kid.

I didn’t write “is always” Larry 🙂 But you’re right.

    Leather is not my forte!
