It’s been on since I’ve understood Dutch so can’t be more than 5 years old, maybe 6?

I think the point is showing how English has become commonplace even while speaking in Dutch.

“Manager” – that must be most abused job description ever… Almost everyone in our office is called a manager somehow. Except for me of course

For some reason people with suits and ties just love to juice up everyday Dutch with English words. Maybe the ties are to tight knotted, so they don’t get enough oxygen and can’t remember the Dutch words?

Damn, I actually have to work with some people that actually talk like that, and it annoys the heck out of me. Choose an effing language and stick with it.

Manager: Daar moeten we even over “meeten”. Als ik klaar ben met de deze “conference call”.
Ik: Je bedoelt vergaderen. En het is een groepsgesprek.
Manager: Waar heb je het over?

I think it’s pretty clever as a parody of slick business types who throw English into their Dutch a little too readily.

What he’s saying fits the definition of Dunglish, although
a) he seems to be using the words and phrases correctly, which is a nice change from confusing English speakers
b) whoever he’s talking to presumably understands him and maybe even speaks the same way

And to follow on from Koos’ point, the appeal of the pea soup brings him down to earth and he becomes a ‘normal’ Dutch speaker again, albeit briefly.

I needed the subtitles, mainly because he was talking so fast.

I remember this one, it’s from 2003 actually. The other commercial from this ’series’ (a son doesn’t recognise his mother because of her plastic surgery) won a Gouden Loeki in 2003.
