Killfile

Glamour advert

Besides shaking my head and going ‘tssss’ when I first read this, I made an association with “My feet are killing me”. Well, it is about stilettos! The word ‘fashionality’ is used in the US as a one-word replacement for fashion sense. It’s a word that is not used in the Netherlands and sticks out like a sore thumb – or toe. And I really don’t like it!

Sticks out like a sore thumb in the US, too. I hadn’t heard of it before you mentioned it here.

Any idea what they could mean with that ad? “I’ve got killer stilettos”?

Being Dutch, I have absolutely no idea what is meant here. It’s stupid. And I’m not gonna buy that magazine.

It’s for girls with a serious lack of confidence. These magazines are mostly bought by women who are depressed and unsure of themselves. OK, that’s a large part of the world’s female population, but girls are an easy target. Jammer allermaal!

And as for Fashionality – what on earth is that? It certainly isn’t a word from England.
